Facebook Video Downloader
Paste the link of a public Facebook video or Reel that you own or have permission to save. VideoDownGo analyzes it, shows what is really available, and prepares only the option you choose.
VideoDownGo is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Facebook or Meta. Only download public videos that you own or have permission to save.
Step by step
How to download a Facebook video
- Open the public video or Reel in the Facebook app or in your browser, tap Share and choose Copy link.
- Paste the link into the box above and press Analyze link.
- Pick Video or Audio, then the option you want. Only options that really exist for that video are listed.
- Press Download and wait until the file is ready.
Which Facebook links are supported
VideoDownGo accepts the address of a public Facebook video or Reel on facebook.com, for example:
facebook.com/watch/?v=…facebook.com/<page>/videos/…facebook.com/video.php?v=…facebook.com/reel/…- short links such as
fb.watch/…and the links the Share button gives (facebook.com/share/…)
Extra parts of the address, such as tracking codes, are ignored. A short or share link is followed to the video page it belongs to, and only when that page is a public video or Reel; the link you paste is not stored.
What is not supported
- Private videos and videos that ask you to log in.
- Videos in groups, posts that merely contain a video, Stories, live streams, events and photos.
- Messenger, profiles, pages and feeds. These are not a single video.
VideoDownGo does not ask for your Facebook password and does not use accounts or cookies to access content, so private videos, videos that require a login, and content that is no longer available cannot be processed.
Video and audio options
Facebook decides which versions of a video exist. Some videos offer several resolutions; others, such as many Reels, offer an HD and an SD file. VideoDownGo lists what Facebook provides and does not invent sizes, frame rates or formats. When Facebook provides a separate audio stream you can also save the original audio or an MP3, without downloading the video. If a video has no separate audio stream, there is no audio option.
Use it for videos you own or are allowed to save
A video being public does not mean you may reuse it freely. The creator keeps their rights, and music or other material inside a video may have its own license. Download your own videos, videos you have permission to save, or content whose license allows it, and follow Facebook’s terms. If you are not sure what is allowed, read Is it legal to download a video? and our copyright and takedown policy.
To keep copies of everything you post, the official export tools are usually the better route. See How to back up your own social media videos.
Temporary files
Your file is stored privately and temporarily: the download link expires after a few minutes and the file is removed automatically after about a day. VideoDownGo does not keep a library of downloaded videos. See the privacy policy for how long operational records are kept.
If a Facebook link does not work
- The video is private, removed or needs a login. Open it in a private browser window; if you cannot watch it there without logging in, it cannot be processed.
- The link is a post, group, Story or other page. Copy the address of the individual video.
- A short or share link. It must lead to a public video or Reel. If it does not work, open it in a browser and copy the final facebook.com address of the video.
- A temporary problem. Facebook changes often and may limit automated access. Wait a few minutes and try again.
- Still stuck? Check the status page or contact us.
Facebook downloader FAQ
Does it work with private Facebook videos or private groups?
No. VideoDownGo only works with public videos and Reels that open without logging in. Private videos, private groups and anything that requires an account are not supported.
Do I need a Facebook account or password?
No. VideoDownGo does not ask for your Facebook login and does not use accounts or cookies to access content.
Which formats and qualities do I get?
The ones Facebook provides for that video. Many videos offer several resolutions, some offer HD and SD files, and some also offer a separate audio stream. Nothing is converted to another format automatically.
Why did my Facebook link fail?
The video may be private, removed, or a different type of page, the link may be incomplete or shortened, or Facebook may be limiting automated access for a while. Check that the video opens in a normal browser tab without logging in, then try again later.
