Reddit Video Downloader
Paste the link of a public Reddit post with a Reddit-hosted video that you own or have permission to save. VideoDownGo analyzes it, shows what is really available, and prepares only the option you choose.
VideoDownGo is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Reddit, Inc. Only download public videos that you own or have permission to save.
Step by step
How to download a video from Reddit
- Open the public post in the Reddit app or in your browser, tap Share and choose Copy link.
- Paste the link into the box above and press Analyze link.
- Pick Video or Audio, then the option you want. Only options that really exist for that post are listed.
- Press Download and wait until the file is ready.
Which Reddit links are supported
VideoDownGo accepts the address of a public post whose video is hosted by Reddit itself, for example:
reddit.com/r/<community>/comments/…reddit.com/user/<name>/comments/…old.reddit.com/r/<community>/comments/…redd.it/…- share links such as
reddit.com/r/<community>/s/…
Tracking parameters at the end of the address are ignored. The same post from reddit.com, old.reddit.com, redd.it or a share link is treated as one post.
What is not supported
- Posts that only link to another website, such as YouTube, Imgur or Streamable. VideoDownGo does not follow links to other sites.
- Image posts, galleries and text posts without a video.
- Posts marked 18+, private or quarantined communities, and anything that asks you to log in.
- Direct links to media files (
v.redd.it,i.redd.it), links to a single comment, communities, profiles and search pages.
VideoDownGo does not ask for your Reddit login and does not use accounts or cookies to access content, so anything that requires a login cannot be processed.
Several videos, silent videos and sound
If a post contains more than one video, VideoDownGo provides the first video of the post. Reddit stores the picture and the sound of a video separately: when the post has sound you can save the video with its sound, or only the original audio or an MP3, without downloading the video. A looping clip or a GIF is usually a video without sound: it is provided as a video and, because it has no audio track, there is no audio option.
Video and audio options
Reddit decides which versions of a video exist. VideoDownGo lists the resolutions Reddit provides for that video and does not invent sizes or formats.
Use it for videos you own or are allowed to save
A video being public does not mean you may reuse it freely. The creator keeps their rights, and music or other material inside a video may have its own license. Download your own videos, videos you have permission to save, or content whose license allows it, and follow the terms of the platform. If you are not sure what is allowed, read Is it legal to download a video? and our copyright and takedown policy.
To keep copies of everything you post, the official export tools are usually the better route. See How to back up your own social media videos.
Temporary files
Your file is stored privately and temporarily: the download link expires after a few minutes and the file is removed automatically after about a day. VideoDownGo does not keep a library of downloaded videos. See the privacy policy for how long operational records are kept.
If a link does not work
- The post only links to another site, or is an image or text post. Only Reddit-hosted videos can be processed.
- The community is private or quarantined, the post is marked 18+, or it needs a login. Open it in a private browser window; if you cannot watch it there without logging in, it cannot be processed.
- The post was removed. Removed posts cannot be processed.
- The link points to a comment or a community. Copy the address of the post itself.
- A temporary problem. Reddit may limit automated access. Wait a few minutes and try again.
- Still stuck? Check the status page or contact us.
Reddit downloader FAQ
Does it work with private or quarantined communities?
No. VideoDownGo only works with public posts that open without logging in. Private and quarantined communities and anything that requires an account are not supported.
Do I need a Reddit account or password?
No. VideoDownGo does not ask for your Reddit login and does not use accounts or cookies to access content.
What if the post links to YouTube, Imgur or another site?
Those posts are not supported. VideoDownGo only processes videos hosted by Reddit and never follows a link to another website.
Why is there no audio option for my video?
Reddit keeps the sound as a separate stream. When a video has no sound, as many looping clips and GIFs do, only the video is provided.
Why did my link fail?
The post may be removed, private, marked 18+, without a Reddit-hosted video, or a different type of page, or Reddit may be limiting automated access for a while. Check that the post opens in a normal browser tab without logging in, then try again later.
