How to download an Instagram video
- Open the Reel or video post in the Instagram app or in your browser, tap Share and choose Copy link.
- Paste the link into the box above and press Analyze link.
- Wait while VideoDownGo prepares the file. You will see the status: in queue, preparing, then ready.
- Press Download video to save the MP4 to your device.
Which Instagram links are supported
VideoDownGo accepts the address of a public Reel or a public post that contains a video, for example:
instagram.com/reel/…andinstagram.com/reels/…instagram.com/p/…(a post that includes a video)instagram.com/tv/…- the same links with a username in front, such as
instagram.com/username/reel/…
Extra parts of the address such as ?igsh=… or utm_ tracking codes are ignored.
What is not supported
- Stories and Highlights.
- Private accounts, Close Friends content and anything that asks you to log in.
- Posts that only contain photos.
- Profile, hashtag, Explore, audio and messaging pages. These are not a single video.
- Links shortened by other sites. Open the link in a browser and copy the final Instagram address instead.
VideoDownGo does not ask for your Instagram password and does not use accounts or cookies to access content, so private videos, videos that require a login, and content that is no longer available cannot be processed.
Use it for videos you own or are allowed to save
A video being public does not mean you may reuse it freely. The creator keeps their rights, and music or other material inside a Reel may have its own license. Download your own videos, videos you have permission to save, or content whose license allows it, and follow Instagram’s terms. Quality, format and temporary files
The result is prepared as a single MP4 with the best quality available from the source. Your file is stored privately and temporarily: the download link expires after a few minutes and the file is removed automatically after about a day. VideoDownGo does not keep a library of downloaded videos. See the privacy policy for how long operational records are kept.
If an Instagram link does not work
- The post is private, removed or needs a login. Open it in a private browser window; if you cannot watch it there without logging in, it cannot be processed.
- It is a photo post. Only videos can be saved as MP4.
- The link is a Story, profile or other page. Copy the address of the individual Reel or post.
- A temporary problem. Instagram changes often and may limit automated access. Wait a few minutes and try again.

Can I download Instagram Stories or private videos?
No. VideoDownGo only works with public Reels and video posts that open without logging in. Stories, private accounts and Close Friends content are not supported.
Do I need an Instagram account or password?

Which format and quality do I get?
VideoDownGo prepares the best quality available from the source as a single MP4 file. Choosing a different format or resolution is not available yet.
Why did my Instagram link fail?
The post may be private, removed, a photo-only post or a different type of page, the link may be incomplete, or Instagram may be limiting automated access for a while. Check that the post opens in a normal browser tab without logging in, then try again later.
