Vimeo Video Downloader

Paste the link of a public Vimeo video that you own or have permission to save. VideoDownGo analyzes it, shows what is really available, and prepares only the option you choose.

By using VideoDownGo, you confirm that you have the right or permission to process the content.

VideoDownGo is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Vimeo, Inc. Only download public videos that you own or have permission to save.

Step by step

How to download a Vimeo video

  1. Open the public video on Vimeo, copy the address from your browser or use the Share button and copy the link.
  2. Paste the link into the box above and press Analyze link.
  3. Pick Video or Audio, then the option you want. Only options that really exist for that video are listed.
  4. Press Download and wait until the file is ready.

Which Vimeo links are supported

VideoDownGo accepts the address of a public Vimeo video, for example:

  • vimeo.com/<number>
  • vimeo.com/channels/<name>/<number>
  • vimeo.com/groups/<name>/videos/<number>
  • player.vimeo.com/video/<number>

Tracking parameters at the end of the address are ignored. The same video from any of these forms is treated as one video.

What is not supported

  • Private videos, password-protected videos and anything that asks you to log in.
  • Links that contain a private key or hash (for example vimeo.com/<number>/<code> or a player link with ?h=). Those give access to a video that its owner did not make public, so VideoDownGo refuses them instead of using the key.
  • Videos that can only be played on a website chosen by their owner.
  • Showcases, albums, channels, groups, user pages, on-demand titles, live streams and events. These are not a single public video.
  • Videos protected by encryption.

VideoDownGo does not ask for your Vimeo login or password and does not use accounts or cookies to access content, so anything that requires them cannot be processed.

Video and audio options

Vimeo decides which versions of a video exist. VideoDownGo lists the resolutions Vimeo provides for that video, with the frame rate and codec the extractor reports, and does not invent sizes or formats. Nothing is converted to another format. When Vimeo provides the sound as its own stream you can also save the audio, or an MP3, without downloading the video. Subtitles are not downloaded.

Use it for videos you own or are allowed to save

A video being public does not mean you may reuse it freely. The creator keeps their rights, and music or other material inside a video may have its own license. Download your own videos, videos you have permission to save, or content whose license allows it, and follow the terms of the platform. If you are not sure what is allowed, read Is it legal to download a video? and our copyright and takedown policy.

To keep copies of everything you post, the official export tools are usually the better route. See How to back up your own social media videos.

Temporary files

Your file is stored privately and temporarily: the download link expires after a few minutes and the file is removed automatically after about a day. VideoDownGo does not keep a library of downloaded videos. See the privacy policy for how long operational records are kept.

If a link does not work

  • The video is private, protected by a password, restricted to a website or needs a login. Open it in a private browser window; if you cannot watch it there without a password, it cannot be processed.
  • The link has a private code. Links with a private key are not processed.
  • The link is a showcase, channel or live event. Copy the address of the individual video.
  • The video was removed. Removed videos cannot be processed.
  • A temporary problem. Vimeo may limit automated access. Wait a few minutes and try again.
  • Still stuck? Check the status page or contact us.

Vimeo downloader FAQ

Does it work with private or password-protected videos?

No. VideoDownGo only works with public videos that open without a password or a login. Private videos, password-protected videos and anything that requires an account are not supported.

What about links with a private code?

They are not supported. A link that contains a private key or hash gives access to a video its owner did not make public, and VideoDownGo does not use such keys.

Do I need a Vimeo account or password?

No. VideoDownGo does not ask for your Vimeo login and does not use accounts or cookies to access content.

Can I download a whole showcase, channel or live event?

No. VideoDownGo processes one public video at a time and does not record live streams.

Why did my link fail?

The video may be private, protected by a password, restricted to a website, removed, encrypted, or a different type of page, or Vimeo may be limiting automated access for a while. Check that the video opens in a normal browser tab without a password, then try again later.
